Kept Within This Child's Prison

By The Silent Pendulum

These white covered wall
So bare and so tall
Are parts of the jail
That's keeping us all

Trapped within books
In nannies and crooks
Our minds all conform to singular thought
Which erases unique and integrates rot

But centered in hearts
The freedom grows taut
Myself, starting to fail
Until we are fed, that feast that we dread
Our bodies are so weak and so frail

Even the Watchers
The masters of knowledge
Are miserable day after day
They teach and we fight, a foolish plight
So we can get into college

Yet thankless are we, apprentices all
The knowledge has failed to grow
We shall sit and ignore your opening of doors
Until it is time to go homeĀ
