Because We Are
By The Silent Pendulum
So are we souls with hopes and fears with dreams for us
Or animals
that developed a conscious
And threw out fur and howls to be replaced?
So we tenderly tended our own kind
Until a time when war was fought
A bloody fight for soul, for wood for water.
We fought as the beast
we had so proudly abandoned
With howls of rage, to tear at flesh with
steel claws
Until not a man was left, not dead, but transformed
Only the truth had stayed that shed light upon us
We men, we falsely
named humans
Are nothing but a ravaged form
Covered in layers
of lies to hide that inner beast
Ready to strike with ancient fury,
a legendry rage
That has not diminished
That has not given up
That has no end.
