Solace
By Antiquith
Solace does not exist.
It is a word devoid of meaning.
Unrepentant
of the sin it creates.
It implies complacent acceptance
of the
the things we cannot change,
and that ever voracious courage
to
know the difference....
Solace is no more than
the humble acceptance
of failure.
The giving in to the inevitable,
The Lie of defeat.
Somethung
we all know,
and desire not
to share its embrace.
For we
are human....
and must protest that fact
so loudly
that
all the other creatures cringe
at our cowardice.
Animals think
in the singularity.
Human;s strive for the unnattainable.
Who
is better off?
At what hearth do you keep warm?
Or do you langour
in the cold.
Solace does not exist,
only the comfort of the
moment sustains life,
and when that moment fades,
so do we.
Humans
live in the moment too,
It;s just that our moment is larger
that
those creatures at our stead.
Only because we often live longer
than they.
Time is a matter of perspective
depending upon
the lifespan of your
species.
Time well spent
acquiring
that which is valuless
when you leave here.
Time well enjoyed,
simply by being alive,
and gathering nothing more
than memories
to take with you when you leave
so that you never forget that the
journey....
is more more important
than the destination.
We
all get to be
where we need to be
eventually.
It's HOW
we get there that matters.
Do we tread lightlty on the stones of years?
Or do we shift mountains in our wake?
Some are meant for both,
and some neither.
It does not lessen your footprint,
nor alter
your path.
It only increases the amount of time
that people
will talk about you
after you have gone.
If that is your goal,
Than you need another,,,,,

Pretty heavy write. Well done. I must tell you however, Solace does exist. It's in the world of Krynn on the continent of Ansalon. Where else can one enjoy some of Otik's famous spiced potatoes, if not at the Inn Of The Last Home? =) Welcome to DP--Draven
