Your Pain Is Real
By gnrrain
Cross your fire, it's yours
Backtrack and reminisce
Your pain is your own
Maybe the time has come
Time to be self-analytical
Raise your fists to the air
Scream at the god you yourself have forsaken
You don't believe anyway
You bleed just like anyone else
Your pain is real
Face your doppleganger, he's you
See, you've given it all away
Everything you had is gone
Put your hands together now
Cry to Christ you've no stock in
You'd do anything for that faith
The faith you clung to so tightly as a child
You can't even remember where it went
You fell and scraped your soul
Your pain is real
The sky fell on you today
He's what you see in the mirror now
You don't even know you're afraid
You chased your screaming self
The colors you see all blend together
They leave you the black you know so well
You don't even have a deity to confide in
You cast prayers into an empty pond
Throwing them at nothing
Because your pain is real

My favorite line.. "You fell and scraped your soul." While we may agree to disagree on certain things...this is still a fantastic poem.
