CRUSH

By Petra Creffield

CRUSH

Got to crush out this crush.
Stamp on it with hobnail boots.
Ram it hard and grind it into mush.

Don’t want it no more, taking up all of my mind.
There is nothing of me but you.
Need an exorcist to expel phantom fantasies.

The possibilities of all we could do,
And all I could have done.
Swirling, dancing banshees in my dreams.

Filling my days with dreams of pink-softness you…
Did I love you? oh man I sure did.
Don’t think I kept it all that well hid.

But it has to end, before it can begin.
I see it now, that I could never win.
Anything but a broken heart.

You definitely captured this emotion well. Crushes are a bitch, but sometimes there's just something that keeps drawing you back to those unrequited feelings and yearnings. Damn human emotions.
