Hey

By aquiouss

Psssssssssssst Hey.....

“Hey” my words fall gently like gossamer webs
and penetrate like blood
under unvarnished nails
on footpaths or peeling wallpaper
warm like the dying embers of sleep

with your name lying limp and boneless on their lips
in the coldest moments of the still night
years have decorated your eyes in this Autumn of us
where tracks are carved from miseries that time forgot
and dreams take their last breath

my sharp instruments run wild
like brumbies in the hard brush
heaving as they rise
galloping,
jumping
and landing deep in liquid cavities
in whole rivers

and I whisper
like honey on razors
without control the of reigns

“Hey”
the word echoing in the still air
like the dying sounds
of the conductor as the soul train finally departs

“Hey”

my mouth curled in cruel paralysis
with the word still glued in the secret crevices of my lips
it's lyrical poison making me crazed

and you thought that when the demons claimed their final kiss
it would be like all swift things, beautiful!
and so you dreamt of brumbies
who are so unlike my long frenzied descent into this cold desert of madness
that slowly tapers through the cracks in my smile
and spills down my face in tears
finally revealing the mysteries of my dark heart
