Poetry Contest: The Past Meets The Present
The Past Meets The Present Results
Grand prize: DC$ 13
The rules were given as the following:
For this contest, I want to do something similar to the Greatest Hits contest since it was a lot of fun and a lot of peeps thought it was a great idea. However, instead of using many poems, you’ll only be using TWO poems. Your oldest poem and your newest poem. The oldest poem will be the oldest poem you have already published on the site. The newest will be the most recent poem you have published on the site. You will be combining these two poems (even if they are completely different to each other) in such a way that makes sense. Hence, the past meets the present.
The rules are as follows:
1. You are to use the very first poem you published on this site. If you absolutely don’t like it though, I will allow you to use the SECOND OLDEST poem you published on the site. As for the new poem, it must be the most recent poem you published. You may also submit a brand new poem and use that one as your most recent poem.
2. You may use all the lines and/or stanzas from your oldest poem and from your newest poem or simply just some of the lines and stanzas. However, the more you use, the better.
3. The lines/stanzas don’t have to be in the same order as they were in the original poems. Also, you may make SLIGHT modifications in order to make them fit together better.
4. Cite the two poems you used as I will be reading them.
How you combine the two poems is entirely up to you. Be creative and have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. Thank you and good luck!
