Dear Member, Let's kill some loneliness together. Some of the most enjoyable times I've had with friends were at official DarkPoetry Meetings. There's a bond that we all share, and it's not something that your average joe is going to pick up on or appreciate. We just "click" for the most part. We know that there's something almost spiritual about putting our souls on the page and sharing our meticulously crafted soul gems with others. Reflecting back on those meetings and the community that we've continued to maintain since then, I think that one of the best things we can do to progress is to help members to make friends near where they live, so they too can have this kind of experience. The Portland Oregon group is expected to serve as a pilot of this effort, but it will be the only group that is managed (at least at first) by some of the same people that manage the site. Every other regional group will need to be organized and set up independently by members. We can't do it any other way because there just aren't the resources for it. We just ask you all to be good, kind, safe, and responsible. And use your oxford commas. If you feel like it. DarkPoetry is accepting self nominations (only) for an available council seat. Qualifications may include: 1. Being a dues paying member for some time 2. Ample free time to hang out on the site and help members 3. The longer one has been a member, the more we assume one is experienced/qualified 4. Being vouched for by other members Send self nominations to DarkPoet by site mail. They will be reviewed by council and an announcement will follow. Alas, our greatest steersman has taken his calloused hands from the rudder and walked up the dock for some well earned shore leave. I think I speak for the thousands of DarkPoets who have benefited from his kind and steady stewardship when I say thanks. Thanks for giving so much of your time to help others. Thanks for making beautiful custom profiles. Thanks for answering hundreds of requests for help. Thanks for settling disputes evenhandedly and with a cool head. We are truly grateful, and wish you every happiness in your new pursuits.

GhettoZombie is putting together a series of chapbooks. He provides the following description on the DarkPoetry Facebook page:

CALL FOR POETRY SUBMISSIONS for the DarkPoetry 7 book chapbook series:
All poems pertaining to: lust, envy, pride, gluttony, greed, sloth, and wrath will be considered for this 7 chapbook series. Each chapbook will accept 13 poems from 13 different poets. Members of DP can submit to any or all of them, but may only be featured in three of the seven chapbooks.
Submissions are to be emailed to jmfpublications@gmail.com.
Submit up to 3 poems per chapbook and write the name of the sin in the subject line. Preference is given to poems which are one page long.
