  • "you could say that, this poem has both literal and figurative meanings to me. I came across a dead body when I was in Iraq. His hands were bound and his face was a sickly purple. He had been tortured by AQI insurgents. That's where the first stanza comes from. The rest is basically reflection on how I felt as I was trying to cope with the abject horror I was feeling at the time. Thanks for the comment. "

  • "really like the raw delivery of this work. Very intense beginning that catches your attention and holds it throughout. Well done for sure. I enjoyed this read immensely"

  • ""If my feet could walk as fast as my heart is beating" Very clever line. Powerful read to say the least. "

  • "So much going on here, I really love the ending line. "love is madness and I want more." Great read. I love the imagery and the abstract delivery hints at symbolism like a Robert Frost poem. I think I am going to read this a few more times. "

  • "Thank you so much. I would like to be published but in all honesty I would rather give it away for free. It is therapeutic for me to write about my time in Iraq and Afghanistan. "

  • "I'm not gonna lie, I miss it too sometimes. Not all of my poems are about war though lol. We had a pretty rough go round back during the iraq troop surge in 07-08 and I just happened to be writing a lot in those days. I am off to Afghanistan next summer. Thanks for the comment."
