The Resting

By Midnight Phoenix

All of the promises gone as I wait, exasperate.
Broken down by deceit, but I always knew it would be this way
Words and thoughts no longer have use, they penetrate
Time stands on edge as it waits for me to exhale my mistake

Across the gardens and the fields, I suffocate
Waiting behind the waterfalls, flowing like melting curtains
It crashes down, weeping as it falls, strangulate.
Sinking into the unknown as it waits for me to inhale, intoxicate

It was there he was found washed upon the shoreline
Without a single scar on the outside
Breathless, he had already left the body
Along with his heart long, long ago
