the rubber ball that gags me

By alaskanamber

my hate of this immoral society has me trapped
like a straight jacket wrapped too tight around me
the rubber ball that gags me
shackles that I drag with every misstep

why must it be a prison
no joy for me, no happiness
if my life were a tv show
the world would change the channel

my feelings aren't for pity
I don't ask for sympathy
but what's wrong with a little empathy
(in case you don't know that's understanding)

My life will lead itself
wherever it wanders
none will travel by my side
it is mine alone to live

when you look in from the outside
know i'm a good person, a loving person
there for you and yours
who will always be trying to find her way

I like this. Those times when we feel the pressure of society tearing at us like maniacal claws at the brain, when all we need is a little empathy. Excellent write.
