Cradled Close and Cherished

By NikesRain

the rain
battered the glass
but all i heard
was your heartbeat
serene in flowing rhythms
my static thoughts
lulled to silence

i breathe you in
like midnight's caress
cool flowing tenderness
so full
my lungs suspend
to absorb you

my mind drifts
on calming waves
and the breath
i release
sighs out scars
of the past
as i am filled
with your healing
and sleep
to dream
contented
