my little wild flower weed

By NikesRain

here upon the path sitting in the noon sunlight
marveling at the colors surrounding me
my own private living disorganized rainbow
faces turned from the sun
waiting for the shade to peek at me

continuing in my mission
i pull each invading creeping leech
they will not prevail
i could burn them out
lay liquid fire upon them
watch them turn like autumn leaves
to leave only the beauty of delicate petals
yet i will oust them by my own hand
i will keep this place safe from their horrors
their choking overbearing vines and roots

yet i see one shy face hiding
hoping to be left in its little spot
so unassuming not grasping
not reaching only sitting
a forgotten minute loviliness of sorts
marked by its cousins as invader
yet i find a particular liking for this little face
so small and diminished by the towering queens
so diminutive against such exploding wonders
it is like a secret smile
peeking through every now and again

i leave it there like a spot of pale twilight
within the riot of sunset and evening lake shades
and i think it will be happy for the time it stays
until time takes it and earth reclaims her child
sometimes the most delicate of things
is one that is so misunderstood and mislabeled
and holds so much if it is only caught
hiding amongst the most outstanding beauty

simple can be lovely too

Beautiful. When I was a very wee lad, I remember bringing tiny wildflowers to my Mom. She would put them in a tiny toothpick holder with some water and brag about how beautiful they were and how loved they made her feel. Thanks for the memory. Scholar
