October Rust
By darkness_descends
Changing colors
Blue-gray sky
Slow cool breeze
Smoke on the air
Burning leaves
Rotting trees
Grass turns brown
Under the orange-red canopy
Crunches under foot
Birds head south
Creatures of nature
Hide for the season of sleep
Everything slowly dying
Soon to be bare
After the colors of October rust fade
Slowly perishing
Only to be born again
Seasonal beauty of death.
