Tonight Is The Night

By darkness_descends

Tonight is the night
Fear is the parasite that eats at my mind
Burrowing deeper into me
Etching tunnels in my brain
And fill with tears
That are dammed behind my eyes

Tonight is the night
Reality is the stone
That is hurled at my crystal heart
Shattering it as though it were never together
Reducing it to jagged shards on the ground
A broke puzzle that can't be figured out

Tonight is the night
Nothingness is the captor
That has made a prisoner of my sould
Holding it in darkness
Dangling above hell
So close and still so far

Tonight is the night
Insanity is my torture
And my haven
My friendly enemy
Blurring the truth
But not my pain

Tonight is the night
Blood is my sedative
My crimson calm
The sweetness on my tongue
The swirling dizzyness enveloping me
Teasing me with a look at the end

Tonight is the night
My knife is the solution
To end my torture
Mend my shattered heart
Dry up all my tears
And alleviate my pain

Tonight is the night
A sudden calmness brings clarity
Taking away all feeling
Numbing my wrist
Preparing me for the cure
The final pain free slit

Tonight is the night
The time has come
I can not say the words
The blade digs in
Severing my life
Revealing my final lie, that I am fine

Tonight is the night I die.

  • A former member wrote: I really enjoyed this piece. It has a great rhythm and you added a bit of rhyme in just the right places. It painted a picture right into my head and I love that. It was delightfully dark just the way I like it. The only thing I might suggest is revising where you put your line breaks a different arrangement might improve it even further.
