Quietly Wonderful

By TropicalSnowstorm

Not a raging all consuming fire,
more like a steady warm glow from the hearth,
with days that subtly clothe me
in flannel pajamas and comfortable slippers.
Nothing extraordinary, like neon pants and
blue hair poised over a plate of sushi,
rather a hot tomato soup while wrapped
in a bath robe kind of feeling...
a feeling I've missed. The difference
between flattery-laden public recognition
for a job well done and the discreet whisper
of a lover as her perfume tickles your nostrils.

As I pleasantly glide along like a leaf
wandering toward its unrevealed destination,
the sun is an understanding wife and the moon
a prudent mistress, never pushing a decision.

And on that note, I want nothing more than to climb back into my warm comfy bed. I love the way this danced around my head and rolled off my tongue. Always a pleasure reading you, sir. Always. *TG Scholar

Oh wonderful! I liked the poem as a whole very much. However the last two lines were absolutely splendid! Felt cool and refreshingly rich...very nice.~DW~

languid, a peaceful piece of properly put together prose. today i like consonance. i really like the lover/purfume line... it seals the deal as far as the poem is concerned.
