Monday

By tmanzano

It is always today
when I open it all up again

The medicine cabinet is full
falling out into the sink
when I open it

I have pushed that door
for most of my life
leaning into it as I scream out
names from my stomach

I thrash and gnash my teeth in terror
so today doesn't happen again

Please Lord, not again...

Defeated, I sit on the carpet
just outside the bathroom
wondering what will keep them in

I pull out all my hair
while I rock back and forth
babbling to myself in tongues

I suffocate in my permissions
begging for it all to stop
pragmatically eating all the infidels

I don't know what day it was
this time, they told me in my shower
when they found me

I was just wanting to know
if the cabinet was finally closed

I was drug out like a fallen soldier
in a hot zone, feet scrapped along the carpet
leaving vacuum lines

I am not sure why this made me happy
but it left behind a "I cleaned up today" look
in my house; it has been a while

Today I soil myself on a plastic bed
in a room with a camera, talk about things like
mommies and daddies and point at feeling pictures

Tomorrow, if I ask you
what day it is, I already know

It is always Monday

I will be back to edit this one. The muse hit and had to type and go. It has been so long since it has visited. This is a spill out in rough form.

Fear has a new name TM, and it inhabits that cabinet of bad habits it seems. Nicely done my friend, and cheers! - Dan

What a coincidence. I was thinking about your poetry today and came to the site to read some of your work. What a pleasant surprise it was to see you had a new piece. I don't have much to say on this. It's resonating with me at the moment because of some problematic life circumstances, though this piece takes things to creative extreme I thankfully am not at haha. I hope you're doing well, Tman, and hope to see more from you soon.
