Drowning

By River Lily

I felt my

heart

Drift

D
o
w
n

my cheek
last night

It
pooled
in my

caruncula lacrimalis

Entrapt within
leftover eyeliner

Before it
listlessly leaked
out..

A insignificant
jewel..

Eclipsed.

Im

asphyxiating

on the brick
Caught in my
throat

My
stomach bursting

With the
wings of

a thousand
butterflies..

flapping to

break out.

I
remember

sorrow, now.

It feels
the same
as

drowning...

Pure heartbreak. And those closing stanzas are utter killer.

It sounds like you dealt with a day of shit and sweat. I'm not sure of the source of the anguish but, I know how it haunts. I've never known you to be so, sad.
