A Single Dance

By Simple Man

Not meant to be you and I

That is what I said

Your soul already promised

My soul already sold

My heart drenched in hatred

Dripping in lies and depravity

Focused on my failures-I never saw my successes

Cold and unfeeling I became-years of damage took their toll

What right do I have losing myself in you?

Blinded-I never saw through your Façade of joy

I never saw how your soul became darker, the closer we drew

Yet we still took to the floor

To forget

To be one

If only for an instant

After only one dance with me I had given you my affliction

Now I am haunted by horrid apparitions

Of a love never meant to be
