...Shallow

By SolApathy

Feeling that the darkness isn’t that far
Running so long, so far
Missed all the milestones of life
Trying to keep ahead of the pain coloring my sight
Looking in reflection
Running became an obsession
My confession-
Should have let the darkness take hold
Running caused more damage than you could ever know
Never had the time to smile
The terror of having to accept reality and blame
For choices I didn’t choose
I ran-- not to win…
Just to not lose
Confused?
You can’t fathom to understand
Until you’ve seen your demons upon your hands
Cast upon you by those closest by
Smiling in the pain they escaped
Putting upon you, the weight
Let free the truth and destroy the world outside
Or run and let life pass you
…By…
Tell me now in reflection what would you choose?
I could tell you what I found
…Unfortunately
The day I tried to speak they took it upon themselves
Put me in a shallow grave
Too deep to be ...Saved

Those "choices I didn't choose" seems central here Sol. Would that we could weigh those things that bring regrets. We cope as best we can - cheers! - Dan

The biggest regret always seems to be the choices we fail to make...

I once found the most peaceful feeling I've ever felt, in the hollowed folds of a huge old banyan tree. It was definitely spiritual and I just didn't want to leave it and step back into the world... We all need to have a safe place to renew ourselves or to just take a break from life and personalities. No matter if it's in the soil or a tree. Everyone needs a happy place to escape to. The blame game and fucked personalities can damage us if we don't decontaminate our hearts and minds....thank you

This killed fast. I know I've said it before, but your style is so satisfying. This hit buttons I thought I had long since dealt with. You never disappoint.
