the essence you inhale

By Magdalena

your love is the distance
sliding over satin sand
pearlescent
chasing the driftwood
caught on the tide
pulling back from her
porcelain fingers sinking
into the warm grains
of shore and dream

paper-weightless in the
departure of your entity
spirit traces left
on her sun-drenched
cheek bones
charred internal organs
fall away into emptiness

she existed in you
for you, with you...
with-you
in your bones
your blood
the rhythmic pulse
of your life
with your blade
you cut her
unknowingly
helplessly

her voodoo
recumbent
inside your soul
buried
while you slept
to the lullaby
of the south wind
it whispered
with her

eidolon
named your heart
in ghosts
and offerings
to eternal  moons
