The Widest Scope.

By TheProphetUntold

Father from father,

Spoken through fire and smoke,
many tales I know.

Taller than the tallest oak,
wiser than the eldest folk.

Mother from mother,

Blood from blood, bone from bone,
aeons' fields be sown.

Deeper than the darkest tone,
wider than the widest scope.

Ashes to ashes.
to what ends we go.

Colder than the coldest cold,
feeless as stillborn hope.

Great and dark, brought to an abrupt and cold end. Very nicely done.

The minimal nature of the tanka definitely lends well to the context, and there's always this sense of timelessness I admire in your work, ancient truths enduring. I' always impressed to see just what my fellow poets can fashion from a block. Scholar
