Little Victories

By WillowGreybird

If you’ve never once stopped
to make small talk
with the voices in your head,
never once dropped
to your hands and knees
to check for a monster under your bed,
you cannot claim this same disease.
If your hands
do not shake,
if your nightmare ends
when you wake,
you will not cry that you care.
Have you ever
held your own hand and cried,
been beyond afraid
of a darkened door opened wide?
Then you do not see what I see.
If you want to play this same game,
on these self-same levels,
then you’ll have to deal
with your own damned devils.

I'm in love! I felt you on every line and the sardonic tone towards the end, masterful. -Write on Scholar
