A Dead Man's Shoes

By cadymae

They were a dead man's shoes
two thrift stores ago
now they are just nasty

but they spoke

to the clear skinned rube
stepping off the bus

they told of the promise

of a hot

meal

given

before

but never after

grooming

A clever, insightful poem with a great Bukowski-esque flavour. Fantastic.
