Split-atom irises
Of a wounded animal
Holding my tongue
Like a gentleman
It's the chops
That gets me
To the punch

And jealousy
Always makes a mess of me
As I'm stuck
To the bloodied feathers
Of a heartless girl's
Endeavours
Switchblade nails
In my skin
Still sever

Love won't recover
My innocence and
I can't break
Tuesday morning
So it's a red light
Above a sunset roof
Where pretty pretty irises
Protect
Soothe
And I'm nowhere
But in her soul's embrace
