Man Vs. Self

By Phalanx

I'm not made up of nouns and pronouns.
I'm something of other stuff.
My name is not important.
It's the action with a touch of second guessing.
We don't have to be right, sometimes
Effective is enough.
Can we pretend that we're invisible and
That we can fly?
I remember being twenty feet on a telephone pole and
The sky crackling.
I made a promise to God I couldn't keep.
He's used to that.

You're made of figments, maybe? The important promises are the ones you make to yourself, I've discovered.
