It's Not Such a Wonderful Life

By megaprime81

There's a black-and-white tv
Showing "It's a Wonderful Life"
As I'm walking out the door
The building's broken and battered
And I long for so much more

There's a daydream in my head
To a better place
Where I'd live forevermore

As I wander 'round the streets
I smile at passers-by
But they're not aware of my pain
As each one passes by

I seek to find the answers
I feel partially blind
As the smoke from my cigarette
Is burning both my eyes

As I walk the empty streets
There's nowhere I can go
No open arms to hold me
And no one that I know

Can't see the sunlight shining
If you knock the fire out
Of my heart and in my soul
How could I survive?

As I start the journey home
I still feel so alone
As I walk into the door
VH1 plays Faith No More

Who can lift me up
When I've fallen down?
I'm sick of this place
This entire blasted town
I feel like I can't breathe
As though I'm gonna drown

I did like it. I think most the folks here would relate a great deal. We've all been there I think, some of us daily. A good read.

Yes, I agree I feel this is a story most can relate with but you have to find the good little moments in life. Hopefully there is some occasionally, not all of us can live the movie star or rock star life.

You paint the solemn scene perfectly. Especially you smiling at the people passing by,, and them not realizing the pain inside you. And that need to just get away and start anew... Nice write :)
