Look What You've Done

By applecookies

Eyes wide open
Heart skips a beat
How can I live with myself
I know it was me

My thoughts won't stop racing
Horrid images fill my mind
I see blades and lacerations
That burn sweet like cherry pie

I look around at everyone superior to me
Those who called me crazy
I guess I agree

How can I do this to the people I love
To the people  who called me selfish
You're right
I don't care enough

I've come to the realization that I'm just a mistake
And everthing I touch
Will eventually break

As much as I hate the term "realist" that is exactly what this strikes me as, lol - the times we find things difficult to say is usually when we're in fact being the most honest. The first stanza was excellent; you could feel a sense of punctuation even without any present. And the unification at the end was also well done, with the completion of the "I guess I agree / You're right // I've come to the realization that..." schematic. Nice work *tips hat*

To be honest I didn't love the poem as a whole but the last three lines....Gah it was like you ripped those words from my head. I'm going to write those in my notebook tonight because I can definitely relate to that because I've basically felt that way so many times.
