A Rattling Verse

By lupus tenebrae

Just the notion
of the flagpole rattling
an empty verse

is crazy enough
to make me rattle in reply
with the old rafters above

simply looking on, humouring
me; their shadows,
a pantomime

on an adjacent wall.

Is this not what the point of living is all about? To rattle back at the flagpole? To see the humour, beauty and life in everything? You've given me much to ponder this day.
