Thoughts upon a quiet night with little one in arms

By BetaWolfinVA

Some nights i sit knowing
that i traded my happiness
as i hold my precious chance
at the future in my arms

the joy in my arms wars
with the sadness in my soul
and the struggle to not make
the two hour drive
tears me to pieces

if i fail
if i fall

love of a woman far lost to me
struggles with the love of a daughter
so precious
so in need of me
to be strong

slowly the strength leaves me
as i stare into space
and cry

Wow, I can really feel the pain in this piece, it is very well conveyed.. I don't have any kids so I cant say I know how you feel but I can imagine it would be a pretty complex. The feeling of sorrow and happiness at the same time.. Great write :)
