Best Friends
By andhaka
Like vapour rising from the ocean
Or ashes from the dead
With your nimble finger
You raised my bowed head
To clumsy crippled soul
You gifted wings of love and trust
Of respect, honesty, and joy
Brushing off spiteful dust
3 am conversations
Of celebrity crushes and the lonely life
If only James Franco
would take you as the mistress and me as the wife
After school special
with "Stacy and the gang"
We danced to Jeremiah
While Soum sang
Oh I still remember the time she asked for a ruler
and you laughed till you cried
"It's funny cuz...cuz...i don't have one"
You sputtered as we nearly died
And how can I forget our "deep conversations"
In the back of the library, not coming forth
We muffled puckish snickers with our hands
And were threatened to be kicked out by Mrs. North
It wasn't always easy for me
There was a time I had no one around
To make me smile
Or keep my feet on the ground
As child bullies reigned the halls
They taunted, flaunted, and called names
And whispered biting remarks
I was the target of their bestial games
One night I wept tender heart to bed
and whispered secret wishes into the night
I thought they got lost in abyss of time
Never making the way to fulfilments light
After years my desire finally came true
My unsteady ship had found it's shore
And I thanked the lord with every breath
Because best friend, you are what I wished for
Author's Note:
I seriously have the most amazing friends in the world. Just a little tribute to the people who constantly make me laugh no matter how down I feel.Comments on "Best Friends"

Keep them close while you can, and make new ones to fill the voids that time always creates, lovely piece of reminiscing, and insightfully wonderful, thanks Andy!

Absolutely stunning, it takes the pain of solitude for someone to truly appreciate having a such a close friend.

Indeed. And it takes having a bunch of shit, fake friends before you meet people who actually care about you to realize the importance and scarcity of true friends.
