Stubborn
By Stephanie Sideways
I want to flip your view point over
With my spatula of persuasion
Tease the edges of your stubborn mind made up
I want to
swap the duvet on your embedded
Wake up to a fresh perception
Shake the corners right down to the end
I want to plant
a tiny seed of an idea
longing for the flower to take form
waiting for the right time to sow
I want to turn the page
on your calendar
It's October and you are still on July
Remind
you that times move on
I wouldn't change you for the world
even if I could, I wouldn't
But Daddy, swallow your pride with
the drink I offer

Wow, I really love the structure and flow. Stubborn people can be tremendously frustrating, especially when you love them so much!

its very hard to "plant a tiny seed of an idea" in ground that is so set on only growing the grass that it knows... beautiful metaphors and great write.

Was wondering until the last line if the person would be revealed. Our parents think they know most everything, until the roles eventually become reversed. They're cute at that age, aren't they? Well done Stephy!

"swallow your pride with the drink i offer" like a truce, but difficult on either side... i really enjoyed reading this. interesting topic that i don't see written about much in so succinct a way.
