Lost Melody

By Aurora_Light

Once so very long ago, words danced within my mind,
They sang so sweetly, a melody so pure, it brought a twinkle to my eye.
Then one day the singing stopped, the dancing ceased to be,
I lost the words with their grace and power,
I lost that dancing melody.

And so time passed on, as it always does,
The words nearly forgotten, mere echoes on silent nights.
Always vanishing with the dawns first rays of light,
Now and then a single dance might make it past the dawn,
Yet it never has a rhythm down, the tune's always flat.

And yet the world keeps turning, not caring in the least,
Life's created then ended, a new emptiness grows within.
And then a tiny song is heard, so unsteady and unsure,
Yet try it does to dance its words across my mind,
And so I write them down, a tiny twinkle in my eye.

:( What happened to us Amanda?? I hate to believe that poetry was just the character of a single chapter of my life! I'd much rather prefer a book...a series of poetry. This resonates. And I see you haven't posted for 3 years. Darnit.
