My Eclectic Primer

By cadymae

My heart once gladdened at opening my McGuffey.
I was so little and the world so big.

I thought of them as ever widening windows.
A neat little set which worked like a step stool,
a color coded SRA from last last century

Now I heft my old set with sadness
and blow dust and think
of the innocence that was abraded away
by the knowledge gained.
