Moth Bitten Beauty
By lupus tenebrae
You were gone
like half crescents in
tandem
and leaves to branches, bare
like the minimal form of
beauty.
You taught compassion
in delicacy and stardust
as surely the heavens sent you,
for your visage is greater than
I.
You were inspiration,
a canvas brought to life
in shallow, underrated breaths,
appreciated by connoisseurs.
I wished to hold you,
but you were something sacred,
a
living tattoo, and fleeting symbolism
upon the contrast of the
sky.

This is lilting and oh so lovely yet also tragic at the same time. Wonderful work.

There are just poems that cannot be taken more deeply, each word so intimately known they must surely had been with us all along.....this is heart-work, is blood-work, is the very essence of what gives real and true and wonderful poetry its life and sustains its effect long after the reading is complete. And the title, for me personally could not be more appropriate. Time and again your work shines brightly through the darkness we too often find here. Thank You. ~b
