Listening to dust fall

By cadymae

Yellowed fingers dialed
(as if the dial tone hadn't left with her...)

"I wrote for a while,"
                     he belched and swayed.

Late yellow sun shafts down.

The brittle newsprint flaps when the hammer snaps back

No one hears anything til
everyone hears everything

and then sirens

as the yellow fat oozes.
