The Death of Life

By alesana

drain the life from this planet
empty eyes on every face
soulless men wandering barren streets
hope has failed us once again
love has been torn from our very existence
weak first steps on dry soil
nothing left to make it worth it
sun has given up on this
pathetic excuse for a sentient race
suffocating us with shadows
burning us with ice
carefully carving out our hearts
we have no use for them now
this is all we will ever have a gain
this is the death of life.
