Lets (stay up late) (for J. 1 of 3)
By Vicious Pixie
Let's stay up late
drunk on import drafts and laughter
entwined
and walking in the rain
talking about everything
Let's
stay up late
play your guitar for me and then
we'll read poetry
in your bed
I'lll feel you watching me
Let's stay up late
stumbling over fingerpicked chords
your eyelashes are so long
and I'm wondering how I've never noticed this before
Let's
stay up late
share the earbuds,drown in music
drunk sway to
Transatlantacism, chase down The Shepherds dog
and we'll make eyes
to the brilliance of M. Ward
Now try to sleep
kill the
lights and shed our clothes
but we never feel exposed
giggling,twining,
like kids in our private blanket fort
This place is safe
it's warm and feels like home
comfort like baking bread and woodsmoke
and God knows it beats sleeping alone
Pull me closer
I'll
memorize your form, read your features in the dark
let my hands wander
lightly till you grasp them with your own
so warm and rough
You speak volumes
while saying not a word, hands clasped around
my arms
as if you'd crush me with your want
all the while you
tremble with restraint
Your mouth on mine
sings of beauty,
feather soft while
screaming anthems of hard rock
guilty juxtaposition
never tasted so right
Yes I know
this is different for
you, connected as we are
not quite brother, almost lover, kindred
spirits nonetheless
words don't do this justice, but deep down I know
Shall you compare me?
ah, my friend, it's not needed
I'd
rather have it just this way
the wanting is what makes it all the
sweeter
Say what you will
you speak of mammals in their
caves
your under-rested morning bravado
brings a smile to my
face
I've realized now
we will do this dance in stages,
eventuality be damned
I'm drinking you down in shots
the whole
bottle at once would be too much
Let's stay up late
summers
coming, sweet and warm
like our fingers clasped together
we'll
drink again to friendship out loud
Just so you know
I'm
truly toasting you
I find you beautiful as well
may your ruinous
face carry me all the way to hell
Let's stay up late
