Masochistic Masquerade

By darkness_descends

No one knows
My dirty little secret
What goes on
Behind closed doors
No one sees
The tears behind my eyes
Only the light
That bounces off of them
No one sees
The blood running down my arms and legs
Only the skin
Washed clean and sterilized
No one sees
The ugly scars that cover my body
Only the clothes
That keep them hidden
No one sees
My permanent frown
Only the plastered on
Fake smile or straight lips
No one hears
My screams, pleas, and cries
Only the feigned laughter
That covers my pain
No one knows
My dirty little secret
Or sees through
My masochistic masquerade.

Very good, I love the title and the poem has that "dancing with with my own maddness" quality.
