The Ageless Ones
By Malcholm Dark
They
covet the darkness
They live for the night
They covet the silence
They shy from the light.
They desire what we have
They
stay out of sight
They extract what they need
They strive to
despite.
They are the ancient ones
They invade tonight
They will come, they will feed
They are not contrite.
They
force us into war
They stand and incite
They draw the battle
lines
They live, so we fight.
When all else has failed
When we are no more
They shall reign supreme
They shall become...
The
Ageless
Ones!

The Bulk of the poem reminded me of Urban Gothic by Brian Keene. And then I scroll down to comment and "They are the cockroach." It makes me smile because if you give someone vague information with a few points to bullet, their mind automatically ventures to their past, or their beliefs. You reminded me how much I need to think outside of my bubblybox.

They can withstand even man's most destructive weapon. A timeless insect, unchanged, and in its own way, immortal. Nicely written my friend.

interesting take on such a highly ridiculed insect...it needs its place in the spot-light also! it can even live w/o its head...thats quite a tough creature..nice poem :D
