The Pact

By Ophelia

Come on,
You know you want to.
Can you feel it?
It is getting closer.
If you put your ear on the track they say you can hear it.

Just close your eyes,
Lay your head gently on the sun warmed steel.
Can you hear it?
If won't be long now.
If you're scared leave now I won't stop you.

Come on,
Lay down close your eyes,
Feel it,
Hold my hand
I love you too,

Two small crosses
Along a forgotten track
The engineers' daily reminder
Two young lovers holding hands.
Laying side by side

I had to rush to read this the moment I received the email telling me you posted. I wasn't let down. The ending was crushing. I could see this, feel this. I felt like I was the one putting my ear to the tacks, it was uneasy. Thank you.
