Pile of Ashes

By alaskanamber

Deception comes from me when I look at thee

my eyes say what my words never may

scratch my head as the struggle continues

within my chest, no room left for a breath

afraid honesty will throw you across the universe

swim through currents of lies to be by your side

fingers fluttering as I drift on past

lonesome is my existence

always seeking something more fulfilling, more rewarding

at the bottom of my pipe lies a pile of ashes

burnt remains of a hope lost in every way

eyelids droop as my cells decay

aging every moment of each second today
