Wise Ass

By freudian-slip

He might as well have thrown ice down the back of my shirt

unprepared
in more ways than I could count

and no doubt
he meant no disrespect
when he said it

" Don't you get it?
It's your plight as a woman"

That day
my heart sank into my feet over a thousand times
so disappointed
yet I held my head
almost straight
when I asked
in all my naivete

" What do you mean?"

thinking

fuck him

knowing all the while
I could take his advice or I could leave it...

Just sit and be angry
for he gave me a million reasons not to accept it

His truth was relentless

What sucks is I never had the chance to thank him
for the gift

*just remembering what an old man told me once, about being a woman and a mother*
