another cuz on school shootings...

By Winter Born

My cousin posted this on her blog the other day...my response is below it.

Another tragedy. Another fucking tragedy. 33 this time. How many next time? Do we read about school shootings in England? or europe? Or Iraq? yeah, there are a couple. Germany, canada, scotland russian. They all had one, maybe two notable school shootings. We have a page of them. Why is that? What the fuck is so wrong with our goddamn country? Why here? Why are we so fucking violent? Are we violent because of our video games or are our video games violent because WE LIKE IT THAT WAY? At the bottom of this I'll post the school shootings. Notice the first one. Its before we were even a fucking country. We were still colonists when America had its first school shooting. Land of the free right? freedom of speech (the kid put it online "im going to kill people today") he wrote dark plays and dark poems about killing people with Rice Krispy Treats and fucking chainsaws. Where do you see shit like that??? How about texas Chainsaw Massacre? Why are we at war right now? because we fucking like it. Thats why. we saw an opportunity to stain our hands a little more and decided to go for it. Why? because killing people is more fun than pretending to kill people. We grew up pretending to kill people. Pow pow i got you! Playing Halo and pretending to be doing the good things in life.We spend our whole lives waiting for our chance to send someone to the other side. We arent at war to protect our country or to right the wrongs in the world. we o to war because we like it. We like tragedy. We like violence. Our forefathers came to this land, massacred its inhabitants and has spent all the time since them finding new and better ways of killing people. Its not good enough to do it a couple at a time any more, you have to drop a fucking nuke and kill millions all at once. Then it really counts. but for what? What are we getting out of this? We dont really have to try to survive here in America anymore, for the most part. You get a shitty job and you work your 40 hours and you get your paycheck. Times may be tough, but are you wrestling a buffalo to get a meal? NO, you're buying the cow from McDonalds, prepped, prepared and already warm. Is that the cause of our violence? Are we just trying to make a fight worth having?

well, at least you didn't turn it into a gun control rant. I write dark poetry about killing and death and torture I am much more creative than rice crispies and chainsaws though. Do you think I am going to go nuts in a school? No. know why? I had parents that gave a shit about how i was raised. they taught me values. and the difference between reality and fantasy. My father had a very light hand about what i watched on tv, or what games i played, but he was like that because he was sure that I was smart enough to know the difference between hollywood violence and and real life. Parents don't raise their kids anymore. they let the tv do it for them. is it any wonder why we have so many fat fucks in this country? Hey! fat ass! put down the fork! go outside and do something you lazy fuck. They blame Obesity, kinda like how all the doctors blamed ADD when I was a kid. I stood up and crawled out from under their pills, and hey whadda ya know? I can function like a normal human being without their drugs. we need to step up and accept that we are the reason why we have no morals or consciences. we did this too ourselves. now quite blaming things, like movies, poetry, role playing games, and video games. step up and fix the problem don't just slap a band-aid over it and try to ignore it.

Excellent awesome piece !! Some questions you ask can be answered in a book I read, 'Columbine' by Dave Cullen. This will shed a little light on how 'good' kids go really, really bad. later -

I hear ya, the soccer moms of America are blaming the media industry, trying to go so far as ban anything "offensive". In doing so, they make it feel like it's illegal to purchase violent material. Just cause a few people who liked to play Doom, and decided "hey, let's go on a bat shit insane rampage", doesn't condone destroying someone's hard work. Video games, movies, poetry, they're all an artistic vision, and they should be respected as such. Scholar

Honestly, I agree with you, Winter, and one of the things that pisses me off the most is these over-zealous Jesus-freak Christian/Catholic fascists who turn around and blame people like Marylin Manson and Insane Clown Posse(Much Clown Love!) for this kind of thing, the fat is that people really ARE just born fucked up. Not only that, but as I'm sure you'd agree with, Columbine was the first of this, and those two kids were not only as fucked up as you can be in the head, but fact is that they WERE pushed. A main ause of this is that in their own minds, these kids have no other choice but to go out and blat everyone in sight. That's a dark plae of the mind that only a few people can understand: Absolute Isolation. I'd be lying if I said the thought never crossed my mind, but yeah. IT comes down to how you're raised and with what values. Scholar
