depths

By Jonas

coming out of eight minutes of nothing
the sun shines down
and i am tired

in reckless pursuit of the blue sky
as it dangles above my head
but blue sky is light that's mostly broken
the best of it has broken and fled
off into space

i will try to imagine
the colors that we miss
but the hue of the sky will be mine a while

i will say please and thank you
i will drink you in
and if i seem out of place it's just
how i work the room

if it's all skin then who cares
if it's them or if it's me
now there's no more westward
i guess i will throw myself
into the sea

how shall i focus
as i hold my breath
but i've never balked at trust in a little bit of luck
to aid me as i run

i was born in an ocean
so i learned to swim
i never had to walk but wandered the currents
offering them the blame
for the state i'm in

endlessly chasing the clouds
that cover up the sun
but finding still that i'm burning up

the frequencies that tear
into your dna
the little bit of life
that is a little bit
of decay

it's the light that misses that gives you shape
the the light that hits that fills you in
i didn't see it but i heard about the explosion in space
and they guess colapse will be the end
