Pray for the Darkness (finished)

By Thorn

The rays of the sun pierce the comforting darkness
That bleeds the light of a new day

This wound in the night sky a bitter reminder
Of promises fading away

Trapped in this nightmare searing floods of daylight
Drown out the last shadows of hope

With sunset comes mercy but after each respite
The dawn comes to tighten the rope

Cry out to be saved
From nightmares relentless
The daylight depraved
So pray for the darkness

Downward the spiral the path stretches on paved with
Shards of promises broken

Endless the cycle the void each day brings
Like the silence of words left unspoken

Dusk casts its shelter a welcome escape amid
Countless tragedy tropes

But brief this forbearance ever ensuingly
The dawn comes to tighten the rope

Cry out to be saved
From nightmares relentless
The daylight depraved
So pray for the darkness

Damn good man. Is this one of the songs your band plays, or one you just wrote? I'd love to hear it!

Good god... That's amazing... it's a fantastic work, and the vocabulary is mind-numbing... the imagery is terrific, etc.
