Flaccid

By purr_verse

I'm sorry, dear Poetry,

I think I have
Performance anxiety,
Which,
Given society
Hardly knows me,
Makes no sense.

For the most part,
I'm a ghost art -
Insubstantial
Capricious
And quite possibly
Fictitious

The irony delicious;

for this girl
Trying and failing to
Massage her world and
Get it up.

Simply amazing and just one of many examples of why you’re a Legend.

I love the nonchalance. But I feel a hesitation. I have read this several times and not found words to tell you how I can relate, so take my fumbling compliments as both substitute and apology. You are a truly talented woman. I'm a little envious. --Jes

My favourite gNatty, your metaphors are second-to-none, your writings ALWAYS refreshingly original. Your voice is not only unique it never disappoints. Ever. Everything you write is a little universe of magnificence.

  • A former member wrote: "Fictitious/The irony delicious" Sad, charming & whimsical, w/ the weight of cummings & the rhyming melody of Poe. There's even a bit of Hughes in there... but it's all you. be not sorry, the poetry is always there... Well done!

  • A former member wrote: I think my absolute favorite part is when you tell the reader that you are "quite possibly fictitious." Painstaking honesty and reality. Really strikes a chord. Again wonderful...

I find much of the womens writes the most potent at times! It only takes one witness to really feel emabarresed or ashamed! But exhibitionism--woo-hoo! Luck to you!

  • A former member wrote: Witty! This metaphor is so very subtle and tastefully conveyed that it almost eludes the eye at first. Then the entirety of it comes crashing down in a moment of whimsical hilarity.

  • A former member wrote: The tone is the driving force in this piece. That sense of underlying vulnerability in a written voice is always incredibly appealing. An innocent curiosity with a fresh perspective. Very well crafted!
