Sometimes I wish I had something,
Anything to hold onto,
I think we could all use some foundation,
But me, myself and I
Have seen what its like to smile and
That’s an addiction that I can't get over.

And even a kid like you can make it
Even a wretch like me has lived
So I say to you now:
“Stand up, love more, frown less,
And make like you just got laid.”

There are things I regret,
Never have loving too much
Or smiling a lot been on those lists

Never have I cried like I cried over you
I can’t seem to make sense of your
Self affliction retaliation
Abusive welts left to their own making
Just one more kiss, two more lips

And even a kid like you can make it
Even a wretch like me has lived
So I say to you now:
“Stand up, love more, frown less,
And make like you just got laid.”

Because, yes, everyone has flaws
Yours are outreaching to me
They are that sparkle in your eyes
Glitz and glam of your face
So make like you,
Make like it just happened,
Pretend you can be that happy
