Swept Away

By Midnight Shadow

Swept up in a tide of emotions,
I'm like a ship lost at sea.
I took a deep plunge,
Falling head first into the murky waters.
Yet I'm caught, your hand shackling my wrist,
Pulling me to safety lest I drown.
I gasp as you pull me close,
Oh so dangerously close...
My skin turns into a living flame,
Ignited by your touch.
Who knew a wildfire could be a good thing?
Burning up, a fever racing through my veins,
I wonder as thoughts wander through my mind.
It is one of my beliefs that things happen for a reason,
What reason could cause this fire storm?
"Do I even care?" I find myself asking,
"Yeah a little," but does it even matter?
"Perhaps," a smile showing on my face.
This smile is one of those that only started recently.
It reaches my eyes and brightens them,
Happiness...I missed it so,
Not realizing this up until now.
I could thank you...
For returning one of my greatest joys in life to me...
Laughter,
Smiles...
And secret jokes shared.
I could praise you in many ways...
My guardian angel,
My hope I once thought to be lost,
And perhaps as my feelings grow,
I could even say love of my life.
All of this matters not right now,
Except that I hope you except me for all that I am,
Who I am...
Because that won't change...for anyone.
I am who I am...me.
I smile and gaze into your eyes,
I tilt my head up and place my lips onto yours.
Stepping back, I sigh to myself and smile.
Looking into your eyes, I whisper to you,
"Let's just consider these thoughts sealed with a kiss."
