Look At What You've Broken, My Love

By Muse

Peel my skin back
Gaze at the images lying inside
Shattered shards of tears to reflect the fading light of hope
A weakened pulse to send them sliding through shredded veins

Take a look at my heart…
What do you see?
A patchwork ball of clay for you to mold?
To break and rebuild as you see fit?
Or maybe a protective casing of ice to keep you out

A mind that’s nothing anymore
Gone as the days with you
Shut down to spare a fragile being the images you created

Emerald, depthless eyes no longer sparkle for you
They simply observe
Glazed over in the mindless serenity of the madness you inflicted

A soul that’s cut and mangled beyond repair
Shredded by your razor edged lies and barbed accusations
Once bright as the midday sun
Now forever captured behind a fog of confusion and agony, it lies bleeding

Rusty stains of dried blood decorate the walls every night
A silent tribute to our battles

"Rusty stains of dried blood decorate the walls every night" - this line was a phenomenal way to end it. "A mind that’s nothing anymore" made me feel empty inside as well. Nice write, Muse.

Good imagery. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I could see pieces of myself in the writing expressed differently. Good write.
